Yes! India’s North East Region covers 65% of India’s total handloom production.
North East India is home to three of the four major types of natural silk: Muga, Eri, and Mulberry.
Muga silk, exclusive to Assam, is renowned for its golden sheen and durability.
Eri Silk, Also known as ‘Errandi’ or ‘Endi’ silk, Eri is a staple of Assam and some parts of the Northeast.

Our journey began with a vision to bridge the gap between talented artisans and discerning customers worldwide.
Founded in 2021, Traditional Northeast embarked on a mission to empower artisans and promote their exquisite traditional handloom products from the eight Northeastern states of India.

Our Partnership with ASRLM
We’ve signed a Partnership Agreement with the “Assam State Rural Livelihood Mission (ASRLM), Government Of Assam” through the NRETP Incubator Program, an initiative under the National Rural Livelihoods Mission (NRLM).
Over the next four years, we’ll be immersed in enriching the networks of Handloom and handicrafts Rural Enterprises, SHGs, Artisans, and Unwavering official support by ASRLM at districts, Blocks and grassroots levels.
